Lord of the Rings Rings & Things: The Nine Rings of Men
Rings of Men:
- Appear in The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The
Return of the King
- Worn by the Nazgûl
These nine rings
were forged by Elves,
but taken by Sauron.
He gave them to kings of Men in
hopes of bending them to his will. The Men proved weak enough to be corrupted.
These nine Men became the Nazgûl,
the Ring-Wraiths. They soon became Sauron's chief lieutenants, making war in Middle Earth while Sauron built his strength. They captured Minas Ithil (now known as Minas Morgul) and its Palantir. The Witchking commanded the city of Minas Morgul. They still wore
the rings in the time of Frodo.
